America turns 250 this week, and Prince William County and the surrounding region are marking the semiquincentennial in style. Whether you're staying close to home or venturing out, here's what's happening from July 2 through July 11. Thursday, July 2

Fireworks in Manassas Park
Signal Hill Park lights up starting at 5 p.m. with food trucks, live music from La Lily Music and Ghost Pepper, and fireworks at dark. Free parking at the VRE lot at Manassas Park City Hall, with free shuttles to the park beginning at 5 p.m. Bring a blanket and a lawn chair.

America 250 at the National Museum of the Marine Corps
From July 2–5, the museum in Triangle is hosting patriotic exhibits, family activities, a scavenger hunt, and the GWOT Dog Tag Display. On Thursday evening, catch a joint performance by the U.S. Marine Drum & Bugle Corps "The Commandant's Own" and the U.S. Army Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps — 7 to 8 p.m. Free admission and parking.

Saturday, July 4

Dale City 4th of July Parade & Family Fun Day
One of Virginia's largest and oldest Independence Day parades returns at 10 a.m. Scouting troops, civic groups, churches, youth sports, performing arts groups, and more march down Dale Boulevard from Kirkdale Drive to Gemini Way. Celebrate America in Historic Downtown Manassas
3 to 10 p.m. Food and craft vendors, live music, and one of the largest fireworks displays in Northern Virginia, lighting up the sky at 9:15 p.m. Grab your spot on the Manassas Museum lawn.

Salute to America in Washington, D.C.
OmniRide is offering free bus rides from two Prince William locations — the Stonebridge parking garage in Woodbridge and the University Boulevard commuter lot in Gainesville — to the Pentagon Metro station. Buses run continuously from 3 to 7 p.m. Return trips begin at 9:30 p.m. The D.C. fireworks show starts at 10:30 p.m. Registration required at the America 250 website.

Saturday, July 11

America 250 Encore in Dumfries
The celebration continues the following weekend at Garrison Park. Family fun begins at 8:30 p.m., with fireworks at 9:30 p.m. Bring lawn chairs, blankets, and the whole crew.
