A new home for kids' fitness and development is coming to Woodbridge. KidStrong Woodbridge, led by local parents Nat Montha and Thanh Truong, officially opens August 31 with a soft launch welcoming its first founding families and classes. A full Grand Opening celebration will follow about 30 days later, on a weekend, once the space has settled in with its earliest members.

For the Monthas, the decision to bring KidStrong to Woodbridge started with their own daughter. The couple, proud parents of three girls — Madeline, Nalani, and Kalina — watched their oldest, Madeline, struggle with confidence and speaking up. Before there was a KidStrong location anywhere near home, they drove her to Fairfax every single weekend so she could attend classes at the first center in the area. Through KidStrong, they watched her grow into a leader, gain confidence, and find her voice — eventually becoming a Class Captain.

"As parents of three daughters, bringing KidStrong to Woodbridge is deeply personal for us," Thanh said. "Like every mom and dad, we want our kids to grow up confident, resilient, and surrounded by people who believe in them. We’re excited to create the kind of place we would want for our own children and hope KidStrong becomes that kind of community for families here."

That transformation showed the Monthas that KidStrong is about much more than physical activity — it's about helping kids build confidence, resilience, character, and life skills that last. They are opening KidStrong Woodbridge, as Area Developers for the brand, so more local families can experience that same growth.

KidStrong is a science-based kids' training program built around structured classes that combine physical movement, brain-building exercises, and character development for children from crawling age through 11 years old. The curriculum is anchored on three pillars — strong character, strong body, and strong brain — and every class begins with KidStrong's signature affirmation: “I am strong, I am brave, I can do this!” Classes run 45 minutes weekly, and the Woodbridge location will also offer a Babystrong program for its youngest members, plus seasonal camps and birthday parties.

KidStrong was founded in 2015 by Matt and Megin Sharp, who wanted a program to help their own daughter, Ella, build strength and confidence. The brand has since grown to roughly 190 open locations across the U.S. and Canada, with more than 500 franchises sold. According to company data, 97% of KidStrong parents credit the program with significantly boosting their child's self-confidence and self-esteem, and more than 80% say it's more enjoyable than any other program their child has tried.

The new center will be located at 2501 Neabsco Common Pl #109, Woodbridge, VA 22191, putting it within easy reach of families across Woodbridge. Families can reach the location by phone or text at (703) 939-9962 or by email at [email protected].

The Monthas say they're looking forward to becoming an active part of the local community as founding families settle in this fall — and they've already invited the Gazette out for a visit once the equipment installation and space build-out are complete.
