From a long-anticipated grocery chain finally breaking ground to a wave of new restaurants, salons, and services, Prince William County keeps growing. In April alone, 40 small businesses received official authorization to open through the county's Small Business Project Management (SBPM) Program. Here's what's new and what's coming soon.

Now Open

Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant — Now open at Stonebridge at Potomac Town Center, per Woodbridge District Supervisor Jeannie LaCroix.

AKIRA — The urban fashion retailer opened a new store at Potomac Mills in January, adding to the mall's growing streetwear and footwear lineup alongside DTLR.

Slick City Action Park — Now open at Potomac Mills, Neighborhood 5 near Books-A-Million. At 70,000 square feet with 16 waterless slides, it's the largest Slick City location in the country and the chain's first East Coast Park. Slides for ages 5+, soft play for under 5; passes run $30–$36.

Kids Jungle Playground — Also newly open at Potomac Mills — a soft-play indoor space geared toward younger kids, in the same Neighborhood 5 wing.

Virginia Gateway (Gainesville) — Partially Open — The county's largest shopping center is in the middle of a remerchandising push. Warby Parker opened at The Promenade on March 14, and Shotted Café is already open — the chain's largest location. Still coming: Sephora, plus fast-casual spots Call Your Mother and South Block, alongside a shared Auntie Anne's/Cinnabon space, all slated for summer.

Dill Dinkers Pickleball — Prince William County's first dedicated indoor pickleball facility opened at Manassas Mall in June 2024 and has been going strong ever since. The 16,485-square-foot club at 8300 Sudley Rd, Suite A4, features six regulation-sized cushioned courts, a pro shop, private event space, and a full slate of clinics, leagues, and open play sessions.

Coming Soon

Publix (PWC's First Location) — Construction is officially underway at Ashland Square, Dumfries Road and Spriggs Road in Manassas — Prince William County's first-ever Publix, and the closest upcoming location for Woodbridge residents. The store will be approximately 50,325 square feet and is expected to open Fall 2027, according to Saul Centers' marketing materials, though some trade coverage has cited late 2026 or early 2027.

Grocery Outlet (Manassas) — Holds its grand opening Thursday, July 16 at 7 a.m. at 9546 Liberia Avenue in the Signal Hill Shopping Center, taking over a newly configured portion of the former Fresh World space. The store is locally owned by Rodney Morrison, who grew up in Manassas. “Opening in Manassas is especially meaningful to me because I grew up in this area,” Morrison said. “Being able to return and serve the same community that helped shape me is something I take great pride in.”

KidStrong Woodbridge — A whole-child development franchise for kids ages 1–11, blending physical, cognitive, and character-building activities in weekly 45-minute classes. Opening in Woodbridge mid-August; follow @kidstrongwoodbridge for updates.

Sprouts Farmers Market — Set to fill the long-empty Shoppers Food Warehouse space in Fortuna Plaza off Dumfries Road, with an opening planned for 2027. It'll be the chain's fifth Virginia location. “Sprouts is excited to bring our wide selection of fresh, local and better-for-you products to the Dumfries community as we continue to grow in Virginia,” said Mychael Ramirez, a Sprouts public relations manager.

Home Depot at Gordon Plaza — Approved by the Board of County Supervisors to anchor Kimco Realty's redevelopment of the long-vacant Gordon Plaza in North Woodbridge. The 80,000+ square-foot store at 13271 Gordon Blvd. will include a garden center, curbside pickup, and limited vehicle rental. Construction is now underway on site; no opening date has been announced.

Just Outside Our Coverage Area

A few openings worth a mention if you're willing to drive a little further:

Teso Life (Centreville) — The Japanese department store chain's first Virginia location opened at Old Centreville Crossing on Jan. 16, drawing lines down the shopping center on opening weekend. Second D.C.-region store after Rockville.

Liberty Market (Lorton) — The former Lorton Reformatory redevelopment continues to fill in — Lidl anchors the center, with Brynmor Early Education & Preschool, Petite Smiles pediatric dentistry, and several small retail tenants (Ledo's Pizza, Taco Rock, Yafa Grille) opening or preparing to open nearby.

Britches Great Outdoors (Warrenton) — A revival of the iconic outdoor/casual clothing brand, brought back to Old Town Warrenton by local entrepreneur Matt Carson.

Many of the smaller openings above were recognized through Prince William County's Small Business Project Management (SBPM) Program, as reported by Prince William Living. Learn more about the SBPM Program at pwcva.gov/SBPM or by calling (703) 792-6930.
