Rows of pumpkins, hay bales dressed in ghost cutouts, and a gray wooden castle for the kids have taken over Lake Ridge Nursery on Old Bridge Road this fall. The garden center at 3705 Old Bridge Road in Woodbridge is selling pumpkins by the pound, along with mums and white squash.
Pumpkins are $0.79 per pound. White squash is $0.89 per pound, mums are $8.99 each or three for $24.99, and pansies are $3.99 and $7.99.
What to expect
Tables of orange pumpkins fill the front lot, with white squash and more pumpkins near the greenhouse. Pots of red, orange, yellow and white mums are on display, and a tiered hay-bale display near the road greets drivers with a sign that reads "We love Fall most of all."
Kids can check out the wooden castle and a small train set among the hay bales and Halloween decorations, and both are free.
The Shoppe at Lakeridge, the nursery’s gift boutique, is also on site.
Hours
Fall hours are Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., through Oct. 31.

A local nursery since 1991
Susan and Donny Gray founded Lake Ridge Nursery in 1991. The business serves gardeners and landscaping customers in Prince William, Stafford and Fairfax counties. In 2009, it opened a new retail center with four greenhouses.
Beyond the fall displays, the nursery operates three main areas: a garden center with plants, seasonal flowers and vegetables; a landscaping service that takes appointments; and The Shoppe, a boutique gift shop that sells jewelry, lotions, fragrances and accessories.
The staff can also answer gardening, landscaping and horticultural questions, which makes the nursery a handy stop whether you’re picking a pumpkin or planning a fall planting project.
The nursery’s Holiday Open House runs Thursday, Nov. 12, through Sunday, Nov. 15. Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. The first 100 customers to spend $75 get a swag bag, and shoppers can enter a raffle at The Shoppe, with winners announced Tuesday, Nov. 17. The event also includes specials and discounts.
