PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. — Prince William County has received two Commonwealth Technology Awards from the Virginia Information Technologies Agency (VITA), recognizing its enhanced Build-Out Analysis Dashboard and its PWC 311 customer service platform.
The awards, presented at the annual Commonwealth of Virginia Innovative Technology Symposium, honor outstanding public-sector technology programs from state and local governments across Virginia.
Build-Out Analysis Dashboard
The county's Planning Office and Department of Information Technology developed the enhanced dashboard in December 2025, converting what had been an annual PDF report offering a one-time data snapshot into an interactive, GIS-based online tool updated throughout the year.
The dashboard tracks the county's capacity for residential and non-residential development, giving residents, businesses and officials up-to-date information to support decisions on infrastructure, housing and economic development. It updates quarterly or whenever land development actions are approved, and includes interactive maps users can customize, along with data tables and GIS data available for offline download.
Since its launch, the dashboard has averaged 2,782 monthly visits. Residents can explore it directly through the Build-Out Analysis Dashboard on the county's website.
PWC 311
PWC 311, launched in May 2025, lets residents request services, report issues and get answers through a chatbot, mobile app, online portal, email or call center. The platform covers more than 35 categories, including trash and debris complaints, exterior building maintenance issues, hazardous trees, abandoned vehicles, water pollution and illegal dumping, and streetlight inquiries. Residents can track the status of their requests, including when they were received, addressed and resolved.
The platform has logged 63,750 interactions since launch, with 20,018 issues handled by live agents. The Commonwealth Technology Award is the third individual honor PWC 311 has received in the past 12 months, following recognition from the LocalSmart Awards and the Virginia Association of Counties Achievement Awards.
