Drivers using northbound I-95 in Woodbridge should expect nightly ramp closures through Tuesday, Sept. 22, as the Virginia Department of Transportation mills and paves the northbound collector-distributor (CD) lanes near Dale Boulevard and Opitz Boulevard, weather permitting.
The closures affect the Dale Boulevard (Exit 156, Route 784 to Dale City and Rippon Landing) off- and on-ramps and the Opitz Boulevard (Route 2000) on-ramps, with work happening overnight in staggered windows depending on the ramp.
Northbound I-95 ramps to Dale Boulevard
Closed nightly from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. (11:59 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays) through Sept. 16. Detoured traffic will follow the northbound I-95 general purpose lanes to the ramp for westbound Prince William Parkway, then back to southbound I-95 and the southbound ramps to Dale Boulevard.
Eastbound and westbound Dale Boulevard ramps to northbound I-95
Closed nightly on the same overnight schedule through Sept. 22 (with westbound Dale Boulevard closures beginning Sept. 8 and eastbound closures continuing through the same period). Detours route drivers via northbound Route 1 (Richmond Highway) and westbound Prince William Parkway back to northbound I-95; westbound Dale Boulevard traffic also loops through the southbound I-95 CD lanes and eastbound Dale Boulevard before reaching Route 1.
Eastbound and westbound Opitz Boulevard to northbound I-95
Closed nightly from Sept. 16 through Sept. 22 on the same overnight schedule. Both directions detour via northbound Route 1 and westbound Prince William Parkway back to northbound I-95; westbound Opitz Boulevard traffic first makes a U-turn at the Telegraph Road traffic signal.
VDOT is asking drivers to follow posted detour signs. Because several of these detours route traffic onto Prince William Parkway, drivers should also be aware of ongoing left-turn restrictions at Prince William Parkway and Minnieville Road tied to a separate interchange construction project in the same area — meaning some drivers could encounter both sets of changes on the same stretch of road during overlapping nights.
