Manassas Ballet Theatre opens its season with Jazz in Motion, ballet set to live jazz with the Kim Reynolds Band, Oct. 23-25 at the Hylton Performing Arts Center. Our Season - Manassas Ballet Theatre

Manassas Ballet Theatre (MBT) is opening its 2026-27 season this month with Jazz in Motion, a collaboration between the company's dancers and the Kim Reynolds Band performing live on the Merchant Stage at the Hylton Performing Arts Center. The show runs October 23 through 25 and kicks off a season that continues through the winter, spring and early summer with three more productions.

Jazz in Motion — Oct. 23-25

The season opener pairs jazz and ballet on stage together, with the Kim Reynolds Band and vocalist Steve Washington performing live alongside the company's dancers. The program opens with a fast-paced piece choreographed by company dancer Nyambayar Sukhbaatar, who is originally from Mongolia and is choreographing for MBT for the first time. From there, the show moves through a mix of jazz, classical ballet and neoclassical work from choreographers Adeline Campbell-Prest, Desiree Rondeau and Hallie Wilde, alongside a piece from MBT Artistic Director Amy Grant Wolfe. The band performs a blend of classic jazz standards and original tracks while sharing the stage with the dancers.

Tickets start at $40 through hyltoncenter.org or 703-993-7759. For anyone who can't make it in person, a streaming option opens up for rent or purchase starting November 7.

The Nutcracker — Dec. 16-23

MBT's holiday staple returns to the Hylton Performing Arts Center for its annual run, bringing back the company's take on the Tchaikovsky classic for local families heading into the holidays. Show times and ticket details will be announced closer to the run.

Peter and the Wolf & Coppelia — March 12-14

The spring program pairs Prokofiev's family-friendly favorite with Coppélia, the comic ballet about a lifelike dancing doll. Full program and ticket details are expected closer to the March dates.

Giselle — May 14-16

MBT closes out its season with Giselle, one of the Romantic era's most enduring full-length ballets. As with the other spring and winter shows, further details will be released closer to the performance dates.
