Fall cleaning just got easier for Prince William County residents. The county's Solid Waste Division has released its fall 2026 Dumpster Day schedule, bringing free dumpsters to neighborhoods across the county so residents can clear out clutter, tackle litter and give their streets a fresh start before winter.
Dumpster Days are a partnership between the county's Solid Waste Division and the Board of County Supervisors' district offices. Each event provides a free dumpster at a designated location, open to any county resident — not just those living nearby. Neighbors are encouraged to team up, haul off unwanted items from porches, yards and garages, and pitch in on litter cleanups along common areas, streams and waterways.

A few of the events also include a paper shredding service on site — a nice bonus if you've been meaning to clear out old documents along with the junk in your garage.
What You Can (and Can't) Toss
Before you load up the truck, know the limits. Dumpster Days do not accept electronics, household hazardous waste, fuel tanks or drums, motor oil, antifreeze, paint, paint thinners, pesticides, pool chemicals or commercial waste. Those items can still be disposed of properly through the Prince William County Landfill's Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Recycling Program.
If you're dropping off appliances, make sure refrigerators are empty, wiped clean and have their doors secured with tape, and remove glass trays from microwaves before drop-off.
Residents are also encouraged to coordinate neighborhood litter cleanups through Keep Prince William Beautiful to make the most of the free onsite dumpsters.
